Over the weekend I received an SEO iPhone App that (I have to assume) runs off the Yahoo API that provides Overture keyword suggestions. If you’re not an SEO then you probably don’t have a use for this but if you are (I have to be sometimes) then it is definitely worth a bookmark since you can’t run the standard SEO programs on the iPhone. Go get it!

Tubes is on a cleverly-named site (mindtheapp.com) that offers the status of the major Tubes. It’s updated every five minutes and if you’ve ever been caught waiting, then you know how valuable knowing IF there’s another one coming is. I personally have gotten stuck before and if I had an iPhone then I wouldn’t have wasted 45 minutes waiting around for the never-coming next one. Must-have for tubers.

I’m telling you right now, this is a niche app. If you’re not into comic books, stop reading. Between you and me, I’ve never opened a comic book (knowingly) but because it’s a pretty nice iPhone app, it’s going to get reviewed anyway. iCOS essentially lets you pull comics, assuming you’re a member, straight to your iPhone. As we’ve learned in the past five years or so, having paper copies of things is worthless and now we see exactly how far it’s gone–you can stream comic books to your iPhone. Like I said, it’s a niche iPhone applilcation, but if you’re into comic books then I would assume this is a must-have for you. Get it today!

iRadio is an interesting radio streaming application that both streams radio from major (US of course) cities and also gives you the option to purchase from iTunes. The only thing this well-built application lacks is the ability to “save” a song without buying it. Let’s face it, not everyone is going to pay the $1 to buy it from iTunes when there are “other” ways to get a song. Definitely worth a a bookmark though.

In the spirit of keeping with non-Amero iPhone applications, today we visit Spain to review the Spanish Digg via the iphone: iMeneame. When I’ve used Digg in the past I always though the best feature was tossing sites to it through the originator so I was curious to know how a site that only interfaces with itself worked. I discovered that it still runs of the main site, but offers this section to iPhone users. Pretty cool. I wonder how ubiquitous the iPhone will need to become before every site has a doorway like that.

It’s always a shame when you get to a wordy site on your iPhone. Even though, as advertised, you get “the internet”, rooting around on pages with lots of text is a hassle. Surely out of this need, the textiest of them all, Wikipedia, is now available at your fingertips through Copendium. It’s only viewable through your iPhone, so if you’re sitting at your computer don’t bother heading over. It does an admirable job of scaling down Wikipedia’s most comprehensive sections and make it very easy to use on your iPhone. Go check it out.

Beta Testers Needed: One of the application developers who frequents the site is in need of your help in beta testing a new mail application. Here are the details:
I’m looking for a number of people to help beta-test a new web-app for the iPhone - it relies on them being on O2, wanting to be able to receive picture message and (ideally) having been sent one already that you’ve not been able to see on the iPhone (and O2 have sent you the text message inviting you to view it on the web).
I’ve produced an application which allows you to view O2 MMS messages in an iPhone-friendly format, much like the native Mail app. It’s entirely web based so obviously doesn’t require you to hack your iPhone in any way. To give you an idea of what I’m trying to achieve have a look at http://www.iapps.co.uk/mmsinbox.png.
http://www.iapps.co.uk - Remember that when you help a developer, it helps everyone because it equates to more applications for all of us to use. Good luck Ross!

I love America–I do, but sometimes it would be nice if there were some apps that weren’t so Amerocentric. A ha! I found one (ok, it was submitted but still)–it’s MOLISC, a live soccer scores application that covers most European countries. Because it offers live scoring, you’ll never have to miss a match again. It’s only available through your iPhone so if you’re on it, go surf there now. Thanks Nicky!

I admit there are times when I think I’m one of the more clever people around and then I see something really innovative and it quickly dispels that thought. Such was the case with the iPhone Metronome. Back in my university days I played regularly and distinctly recall heaving around with me a large, black box–a “Dr. Beat”. Like most regular metronomes this goes from 40bpm to 208bpm and works admirably. A must-have for any musicians or wanna-be who would like to carry one less thing to rehearsal.
