Quote Sheet isn’t just an iPhone application, it’s a full service business. Like, the Facebook Application I reviewed a few weeks ago, the product they offer was already in existence and the iPhone module came out to further business. Since the app is really just repackaged for use on the iPhone I’m a bit reluctant to review it, good or bad. With that said, here’s some information from their site:
Quote Sheet is a fully customizable, 100% online quotation service that can be customized for any business in any industry. Quote Sheet helps you easily build quotations for your customers no matter the products or services you sell, and built-in tools like quotation emailing and PayPal payment processing means there is no better way to take your business to the next level.

PrecisePDA is a capable news headline feeder. It loads quickly but was slightly too wide for my screen. It does exactly what you would expect to do and for that it’s worth looking at. You can’t sort by category or select topics so it’s kind of limiting in that regard but it certainly does what it’s supposed to do–feed those headlines.

Since yesterday’s weather app was a little lacking, today’s we have a fully developed, intuitive one for you. From one of my favorite sites, Albino Blacksheep, we have iPhone Weather. Honestly, it’s everything AccuWeather’s wasn’t. It let me change my location from the main page and loaded about 10x faster. Bookmark that puppy.

AccuWeather was smart enough to develop a Firefox plugin and capitalized on that traffic to rival weather.com. For the second time they made the leap, this time producing an iPhone widget for the iPhone. It’s available here. While definitely a noble effort, I personally had some problems getting it off the default settings and inputting my zip code. I know they’re trying to really pack in the features but a little more time could have been spend on the usability. Good things take time though, and I don’t doubt they’ll be releasing a more efficient version in the near future.

This is really more iPhone news than an iPhone application but since it was all over the blogosphere I figured it was safe to cover. A New Jersey teenager successfully hacked his iPhone to make it available with carriers other than AT&T. He apparently traded his hacked version for a Nissan. The only thing that really surprises me about the story is how long it took for someone to do it. For better or worse, we live in an age where people want what they want and by God, they’re going to get it. There’s been talk about him being sued by Apple but that seems a little extreme. If I overclock my processor Compaq (or I guess HP now) wouldn’t sue me. I own it and I can do what I want. Granted, there’s no exclusive licensing contract involved but the basic message, to me anyway, is the same. It’s not like the hacked iPhone makes free calls–I would LOVE to get rid of my formerly-Cingular-now-AT&T service but that’s impossible for me. Kudos kid.

In your office at home sits your beautiful desktop machine. Whatever its visual appeal, you know the real beauty is in the the 6Ghz processor whirring through your terabyte of hard drive space. Alas, if only it could go with you. With Shape Services’ new Remote Desktop Application, RDM, it can. You can Remote Desktop in just like you would between any other two Windows computers and get all that nerdy goodness on your handy little iPhone. Who’s it for? Geeks on the go…which is most of us.

SeeqPod is a streaming music application that lets you grab an artist, choose a song and have it streamed to your iPhone. Although you won’t “own” the song, it’s a great alternative to throwing money at iTunes. Since the songs are hosted across the internet, some will load much faster than others but hey, when it’s free you can’t beat the price. Excellent alternative to having shell out cash for the songs.

Not really an application, but noteworthy nonetheless simply because of the size of Facebook. They’re the first major social networking site to have put together an iPhone-only version of their site. The scaled-down model works surprisingly well and although I rarely use Facebook, it seems to have all of the same features as their “regular” site. Check it out.

I occasionally take freelance jobs and have always been really detailed in my record-keeping for tax purposes. I can now finally throw away the beat-up paper notebook in my Taurus now that I have iPhone Miles, a handy application that lets you log your mileage. Really, freelancer or not, everyone should be keeping track of their mileage just for their own knowledge about their car and this makes it easy. Requires free registration.
